We are excited to now offer our patients appointments with our Adult Strabismus specialist, Dr Desmarais.
Strabismus refers to any eye misalignment – whether one eye or both eyes turn in, out, up, or down. Strabismus can cause double vision and/or problems with depth perception. While often considered a childhood condition, there are many different causes of adult strabismus, including:
- Neurologic issues (such as strokes)
- Thyroid Eye Disease
- Myasthenia Gravis
- Aging
- Trauma
During your visit, you will first meet with our orthoptist, Caroline Fang, who has over 20 years of experience in treating eye misalignments. You will then see Dr Desmarais, the strabismus surgeon.
Treatment for adult strabismus can include prisms and/or eye muscle surgery, both of which Dr Desmarais will review with you during your appointment. At Concord Eye Center, we understand how disabling strabismus and double vision can be. Dr Desmarais and our orthoptist, Caroline Fang, have the training and experience to work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
