JOB SUMMARY:
Training in a multispecialty ophthalmology practice to provide quality care to our patients during their exam.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Proven ability to work well in a clinical setting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Personable; empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Demonstrates computer literacy.
Typical Working Conditions:
Normal medical office environment. Occasional evening work.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain smooth patient flow.
- Make and receive phone calls from patients, pharmacies and other doctor’s offices.
- Write out prescriptions for glasses and medications with proper MD approval.
- Stock exam rooms.
- Clean and maintain equipment.
- Make sure workstations and exam rooms are neat and orderly.
- Close down exam rooms and shut down equipment at end of each working day.
- Learn other procedures when appropriate (GDX, OCT, Assist in Minor Surgery).
- Help out other areas of office when needed.
- Guide techs to assist during down time in other clinics
- Provide feedback to the team during the day
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ophthalmic Technician training.
- Minimal experience in ophthalmology practice.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
