JOB SUMMARY:

Training in a multispecialty ophthalmology practice to provide quality care to our patients during their exam.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  2. Proven ability to work well in a clinical setting.
  3. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  4. Personable; empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
  5. Well-organized with attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work as a team member.
  7. Demonstrates computer literacy.

Typical Working Conditions:

Normal medical office environment.  Occasional evening work.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain smooth patient flow.
  2. Make and receive phone calls from patients, pharmacies and other doctor’s offices.
  3. Write out prescriptions for glasses and medications with proper MD approval.
  4. Stock exam rooms.
  5. Clean and maintain equipment.
  6. Make sure workstations and exam rooms are neat and orderly.
  7. Close down exam rooms and shut down equipment at end of each working day.
  8. Learn other procedures when appropriate (GDX, OCT, Assist in Minor Surgery).
  9. Help out other areas of office when needed.
  10. Guide techs to assist during down time in other clinics
  11. Provide feedback to the team during the day

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Ophthalmic Technician training.
  2. Minimal experience in ophthalmology practice.
  3. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
